Dear Comrades,
The Workers Party of Ireland sends comradely greetings to the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and extends its best wishes, solidarity and support to the TKP.
The WPI condemns the decision of the Turkish government to obstruct the participation of the TKP in the 24th June general election. The TKP is now taking part in the elections under the platform “This Social Order Must Change”.
The socialist demands of this Platform are consistent with the strategy for the complete transformation of society, a revolutionary change in the social order, for workers’ power and socialism.
The WPI believes that the struggle of the TKP will not be undermined by the tactics of this authoritarian regime and that this election will play an important part in raising class consciousness and in creating the political conditions for the development of the class struggle. The Workers Party of Ireland extends its solidarity and best wishes to the Platform and wishes it success in tomorrow’s elections.
