Dear comrades,<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I would like to begin by thanking the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, Comrade D\u00edaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and the President of the Republic of Cuba, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Secretary of Organization Roberto Morales Ojeda, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla, and comrade Emilio Lozada, Member of the Central Committee Head of International Relations Department, and all the party cadres for hosting this meeting and bringing us together here in Havana despite the immense hardships created by the US imperialist blockade, which has now become an outright crime of genocide. I bring them the solidarity and revolutionary greetings of the communists and people of Turkey. I also greet all the comrades who are present in this meeting representing different parties struggling all around the world.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The theme of this meeting also covers the political and intellectual legacy of the great revolutionary Fidel Castro, whose 100th birthday we are celebrating. Over the past few months, I have started reading again Fidel Castro\u2019s writings and speeches. Undoubtedly, his life unfolded through different periods, each defined by its own circumstances and objectives. Yet all of these periods shared three defining characteristics: never yielding to the enemy, never abandoning revolutionary ideals, and upholding an exceptionally strong moral ethic. Fidel Castro defended these three principles by pushing the possibilities offered by circumstances to their utmost limits.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is clear that he recognized the problems and weaknesses of the world communist movement well before the collapse of the Soviet Union. At times, he expressed severe\u2014but justified\u2014criticisms. He was deeply saddened by the subsequent retreat and turned his attention increasingly to the question of how socialist Cuba could endure under those global conditions. In doing so, he continued to spread that profound moral vision throughout the world, especially across Latin America.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As we pay tribute today to Fidel Castro and his struggle, I would like to express my thoughts in the manner he always preferred: openly, honestly, and sincerely. Now is the right time to do so.\u2028\u2028Comrades there is a constant lie put forward by US imperialism; the narrative is that Cuba is practising subversive activities in other countries including United States. This is a big, big, very big lie, a dirty lie. Many decades ago this groundless attack was against the Soviet Union. Interestingly the history of the Cuban revolution pointed just the opposite. We all know and I am sure that CIA knows very well that the Cuban Revolution had nothing to do with the so-called Soviet intentions. \u2028\u2028Revolutions, real revolutions are the outcomes of internal dynamics and Yankees who are seeking for external fingers should concentrate on their own. Because revolutions are provoked by the multi-national monopolies, by NATO, by imperialist wars, by the consequences of exploitation, by the dictatorial regimes that are supported by the imperialists. \u2028\u2028In that sense, communists are the only force within their countries, who defend a real independence, who defend non interference to each countries internal affairs. Yes we are internationalists in every sense but revolutionary struggle in each country demands an independent vanguard party that takes its own decisions and that can fulfill those decisions. The victorious movement that was created and led by Fidel was a genuine and successful example of this principle.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Comrades, the nightmare confronting the world today should come as no surprise to any of us. We are paying the price for the needless prolongation of the capitalist system whose inner mechanisms\u00a0 Marx laid bare in remarkable detail some 150 years ago. The difficulties faced by socialist Cuba, our gracious host today, together with the many measures it has been forced to take in response, are part of that same price.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wars, waves of migration, the relentless assault on the rights won by the working class in the twentieth century, the shrinking of political space and the systematic denial of working people’s right and ability to engage in politics. None of these are temporary phenomena. They are all products of capitalism’s inherent crisis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When we return to our own countries, none of us will be surprised to find new issues waiting for us. My own country has become, step by step, a party to the war in Ukraine under the pretext of fulfilling its NATO obligations. It has joined the military alliance forged by the reactionary regimes of the region against Yemen and Iran. The same pattern can be seen in many other countries.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Indeed, in recent years we have struggled even to find a venue for the IMCWPs. Some countries are engaged in armed conflicts. The visa policies of others have become barriers for citizens of many countries. Others still face the direct threat of invasion or coup orchestrated by the United States.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Comrades,<\/p>\n

Is there a way out?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Of course, we will develop defensive tactics to blunt these attacks and push them back. We will look for ways to avoid surrendering further ground.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But we must also recognize that, for as long as we continue to grant capitalism the time and space to maneuver, the scale of the disaster will only grow. And let me stress the word capitalism. I am not talking about one particular policy or a handful of countries at the top of the imperialist system. I am talking about a social system, a social system that we have no choice but to overthrow.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is no reason to believe that capitalism will somehow enter a more stable, more orderly or a peaceful phase. Every economic and political indicator points in the same direction. Capitalism has broken free of its chains.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yet it was the international proletariat that was meant to break its chains.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Comrades, today, billions of people are searching for a way out of this nightmare. Yet, with only a handful of exceptions, socialism has fallen off their political horizon, even though it remains capitalism’s only real alternative.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whatever the obstacles, we must reverse this situation. I am not calling for suicide missions or kamikaze dives. We must recognize the constraints imposed by present conditions, act with intelligence and avoid adventurism. But it is equally imperative that the socialist alternative once again asserts itself in the political and ideological struggle.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, there was a well-known anti-communist slogan. It even appeared on posters: \u201cVisit Russia Before Russia Visits You.\u201d We too should remember a slogan of our own: \u201cDestroy capitalism before capitalism destroys humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are racing against time. Whatever the conditions in which we are forced to struggle, I hope you will not regard it as disrespectful if I insist that we must place the actuality of socialism in front of the people.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let me remind you something:<\/p>\n

We are a long way from the commanding position we held in culture, the arts and the media throughout much of the twentieth century. Naz\u0131m Hikmet, the great poet who was a member TKP, wrote much of his poetry in the Soviet Union. Yet when he wrote about his own country, he championed a new way of life in an Islamic country where not only the Communist Party but even trade unions were outlawed. To put forward a vision of a new way of life is to inspire creativity, to generate enthusiasm and to forge a bond with the young. In Turkey we had Naz\u0131m, in France Aragon, in Greece Ritsos, in Chile Neruda and many others. They were all poets who proclaimed hope and the promise of a different life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Comrades,<\/p>\n

The Communist Party of Turkey is carrying out its struggle in a country that has endured two fascist military coups and a bloody, US-backed coup attempt over the past fifty years, a country where abnormality has become the norm. Fundamental freedoms have been steadily eroded. The government is consumed by imperial ambitions and eager to involve the country in regional conflicts. Working people are demoralized. Young people are trying to leave the country. It is a dark picture, one that offers little cause for hope.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some of our friends argue that, if we are to rid our country of the AKP government after twenty-five uninterrupted years in power, we must wage the struggle for \u201cdemocracy\u201d under the leadership of the social democratic party. Comrades, if that is what is expected of us, then we might as well abandon the name \u201ccommunist\u201d altogether. We did not bring the TKP back into the light after eighty years of illegality for that.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In a country of eighty-five million people, we must do whatever it takes to rescue even a single unemployed young person driven to the brink of suicide from the darkness created by the bourgeoisie, to restore the will to live to even a single desperate pensioner waiting for death, and to help workers cast off their sense of shame and become conscious of their own strength.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sometimes the value of a revolutionary position becomes clear only years, even decades, later. under a capitalist system that generates crises and contradictions on this scale, there is no policy more realistic, or more genuinely revolutionary, than preparing for a historic rupture.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is our perspective from Turkey. We welcome disagreement and criticism. These are the conclusions we have reached through our own experience. Let us hope we prove equal to the weight of the words we have spoken today.<\/p>\n

I extend to you all my warmest communist greetings.<\/p>\n

Estimados compa\u00f1eros:<\/p>\n

Quisiera comenzar agradeciendo a la direcci\u00f3n del Partido Comunista de Cuba, al compa\u00f1ero D\u00edaz-Canel, Primer Secretario del Comit\u00e9 Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba y Presidente de la Rep\u00fablica de Cuba, a Roberto Morales Ojeda, miembro del Bur\u00f3 Pol\u00edtico del Partido Comunista de Cuba y Secretario de Organizaci\u00f3n, a Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla, miembro del Bur\u00f3 Pol\u00edtico del Partido Comunista de Cuba y Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, y al compa\u00f1ero Emilio Lozada, miembro del Comit\u00e9 Central y jefe del Departamento de Relaciones Internacionales,<\/span><\/strong> <\/b>y a todos los cuadros del Partido por acoger esta reuni\u00f3n y reunirnos hoy en La Habana, <\/b>a pesar de las dur\u00edsimas condiciones creadas por la pol\u00edtica de bloqueo del imperialismo estadounidense, que ya se ha convertido abiertamente en un crimen de genocidio<\/span><\/strong>. <\/b>Les transmito los sentimientos de solidaridad y el saludo revolucionario de los comunistas y del pueblo de Turqu\u00eda. Tambi\u00e9n saludo a todos los compa\u00f1eros presentes en esta reuni\u00f3n en representaci\u00f3n de diferentes partidos que luchan en todo el mundo.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

El tema de esta reuni\u00f3n abarca tambi\u00e9n el legado pol\u00edtico e intelectual del gran revolucionario Fidel Castro, cuyo centenario estamos celebrando. Durante los \u00faltimos meses, he comenzado a releer los escritos y discursos de Fidel Castro. Sin duda, su vida transcurri\u00f3 por diferentes per\u00edodos, cada uno definido por sus propias circunstancias y objetivos. Sin embargo, todos estos per\u00edodos compartieron tres caracter\u00edsticas definitorias: nunca ceder ante el enemigo, nunca abandonar los ideales revolucionarios y mantener una \u00e9tica moral excepcionalmente fuerte. Fidel Castro defendi\u00f3 estos tres principios llevando hasta sus l\u00edmites m\u00e1ximos las posibilidades que ofrec\u00edan las circunstancias.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Est\u00e1 claro que reconoci\u00f3 los problemas y las debilidades del movimiento comunista mundial mucho antes del colapso de la Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica. En ocasiones expres\u00f3 cr\u00edticas severas, pero justificadas. Le entristeci\u00f3 profundamente el posterior retroceso y dirigi\u00f3 cada vez m\u00e1s su atenci\u00f3n a la cuesti\u00f3n de c\u00f3mo la Cuba socialista podr\u00eda resistir en esas condiciones globales. Al hacerlo, continu\u00f3 difundiendo esa profunda visi\u00f3n moral por todo el mundo, especialmente en Am\u00e9rica Latina.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Al rendir hoy homenaje a Fidel Castro y a su lucha, quisiera expresar mis pensamientos de la manera que \u00e9l siempre prefiri\u00f3: abierta, honesta y sinceramente. Ahora es el momento adecuado para hacerlo.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Compa\u00f1eros, existe una mentira constante promovida por el imperialismo estadounidense; la narrativa es que Cuba practica actividades subversivas en otros pa\u00edses, incluidos los Estados Unidos. Esta es una gran, gran, muy gran mentira, una mentira sucia. Hace muchas d\u00e9cadas, este ataque infundado se dirig\u00eda contra la Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica. Curiosamente, la historia de la Revoluci\u00f3n Cubana se\u00f1al\u00f3 justamente lo contrario. Todos sabemos, y estoy seguro de que la CIA lo sabe muy bien, que la Revoluci\u00f3n Cubana no tuvo nada que ver con las llamadas intenciones sovi\u00e9ticas.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Las revoluciones, las revoluciones reales, son el resultado de din\u00e1micas internas, y los yanquis que buscan dedos externos deber\u00edan concentrarse en los suyos. Porque las revoluciones son provocadas por los monopolios multinacionales, por la OTAN, por las guerras imperialistas, por las consecuencias de la explotaci\u00f3n, por los reg\u00edmenes dictatoriales apoyados por los imperialistas.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

En ese sentido, los comunistas son la \u00fanica fuerza dentro de sus pa\u00edses que defiende una independencia real, que defiende la no injerencia en los asuntos internos de cada pa\u00eds. S\u00ed, somos internacionalistas en todos los sentidos, pero la lucha revolucionaria en cada pa\u00eds exige un partido de vanguardia independiente que tome sus propias decisiones y pueda llevarlas a cabo. El movimiento victorioso creado y dirigido por Fidel fue un ejemplo genuino y exitoso de este principio.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Compa\u00f1eros:<\/p>\n

La pesadilla que vivimos hoy en el mundo no deber\u00eda sorprender a ninguno de nosotros. Estamos pagando el precio de haber prolongado innecesariamente la vida del capitalismo, cuyo funcionamiento fue explicado en todos sus mecanismos por Marx hace aproximadamente ciento cincuenta a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Entre esos costos debemos incluir tambi\u00e9n los problemas que afronta hoy la Cuba socialista, que hoy nos recibe, as\u00ed como muchas de las medidas que se ha visto obligada a adoptar para hacerles frente.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Las guerras, las oleadas migratorias, el ataque ininterrumpido contra los derechos conquistados por la clase obrera durante el siglo XX en los cinco continentes, la reducci\u00f3n del espacio de la pol\u00edtica y la eliminaci\u00f3n de los derechos y posibilidades del pueblo trabajador para hacer pol\u00edtica; todo ello es producto de las din\u00e1micas de crisis del capitalismo y, de ninguna manera, tiene un car\u00e1cter pasajero.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cuando regresemos a nuestros pa\u00edses despu\u00e9s de este encuentro, no ser\u00e1 ninguna sorpresa encontrarnos con nuevos asuntos<\/span><\/strong>. <\/b>Nuestro pa\u00eds se ha ido involucrando paso a paso en la guerra de Ucrania bajo el pretexto de cumplir con misiones de la OTAN. Tambi\u00e9n se ha sumado a la alianza militar que los gobiernos reaccionarios de la regi\u00f3n han formado contra Yemen e Ir\u00e1n. Esta situaci\u00f3n es parecida para muchos otros pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hasta tal punto que, en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, ni siquiera logramos encontrar un lugar donde celebrar las reuniones del EIPCO. Algunos pa\u00edses est\u00e1n involucrados en conflictos armados<\/span><\/strong>;<\/b> en otros, las pol\u00edticas de visados crean obst\u00e1culos para los ciudadanos de numerosos pa\u00edses<\/span><\/strong>; <\/b>y otros se enfrentan directamente a amenazas de invasi\u00f3n o golpes de Estado promovidos por Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Compa\u00f1eros:<\/p>\n

\u00bfExiste una salida?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sin duda, desarrollaremos t\u00e1cticas defensivas para aliviar estos ataques y repelerlos; buscaremos caminos para no seguir perdiendo posiciones.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pero debemos reconocer que, mientras sigamos regal\u00e1ndole al capitalismo amplios m\u00e1rgenes de maniobra y largos per\u00edodos de tiempo, la magnitud de la cat\u00e1strofe no har\u00e1 m\u00e1s que aumentar. Perm\u00edtanme subrayar especialmente la palabra \u00abcapitalismo\u00bb. No hablo de una pol\u00edtica en particular ni de un pu\u00f1ado de pa\u00edses situados en la c\u00faspide del sistema imperialista. Hablo de un sistema social, de un sistema social que estamos obligados a destruir.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ya no existe ninguna raz\u00f3n para pensar que el capitalismo pueda entrar, por una causa u otra, en una etapa m\u00e1s estable, m\u00e1s regulada o pac\u00edfica<\/span><\/strong>. Todos los datos econ\u00f3micos y pol\u00edticos muestran que el capitalismo se ha desatado de sus cadenas.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sin embargo, quienes esper\u00e1bamos que rompieran sus cadenas eran el proletariado internacional.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Compa\u00f1eros:<\/p>\n

Hoy miles de millones de personas buscan una alternativa para salir de esta pesadilla. Y, lamentablemente, salvo contadas excepciones, aunque el socialismo sigue siendo la \u00fanica alternativa al capitalismo, ha desaparecido de la agenda de esos miles de millones de personas.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sean cuales sean los obst\u00e1culos, estamos obligados a revertir esta situaci\u00f3n. No propongo vuelos suicidas ni inmersiones kamikaze. Debemos partir de las limitaciones que imponen las condiciones actuales, actuar con inteligencia y mantenernos alejados del aventurerismo. Pero tambi\u00e9n es absolutamente indispensable que la alternativa socialista recupere su peso en la lucha pol\u00edtica e ideol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Antes de la ca\u00edda de la URSS exist\u00eda un conocido eslogan anticomunista, que incluso lleg\u00f3 a aparecer en carteles: \u00abVisit Russia Before Russia Visits You\u00bb (\u00abVisiten Rusia antes de que Rusia los visite\u00bb).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nosotros tambi\u00e9n deber\u00edamos tener presente lo siguiente: \u00abDestroy capitalism before capitalism destroys humanity\u00bb (\u00abDestruyan el capitalismo antes de que el capitalismo destruya a la humanidad\u00bb).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Estamos compitiendo contra el tiempo. Sean cuales sean las condiciones en las que nos veamos obligados a luchar, espero que no consideren irrespetuoso que insista en que debemos poner la actualidad del socialismo ante el pueblo.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Perm\u00edtanme recordarles algo:<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n estamos muy lejos de la enorme superioridad que alcanzamos durante el siglo XX en el \u00e1mbito de la cultura, el arte y los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n. El gran poeta Naz\u0131m Hikmet, que fue miembro del TKP<\/span><\/strong>, <\/b>escribi\u00f3 una parte importante de su obra en la URSS. Sin embargo, cuando escrib\u00eda sobre su propio pa\u00eds, defend\u00eda una nueva forma de vida en un pa\u00eds isl\u00e1mico donde no solo el Partido Comunista, sino incluso los sindicatos estaban ilegalizados. Proponer una nueva forma de vida significa creatividad, entusiasmo y capacidad para conectar con la juventud. Naz\u0131m para nosotros, Aragon en Francia, Ritsos en Grecia, Neruda en Chile y tantos otros fueron poetas que anunciaban la esperanza y la posibilidad de otra vida.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Compa\u00f1eros:<\/p>\n

El Partido Comunista de Turqu\u00eda lucha en un pa\u00eds que, en los \u00faltimos cincuenta a\u00f1os, ha sufrido dos golpes militares fascistas y un sangriento intento de golpe proestadounidense; un pa\u00eds donde la anormalidad se ha convertido en la norma. Las libertades fundamentales han sido recortadas; el gobierno persigue ambiciones imperiales y busca implicarse en conflictos regionales; el pueblo trabajador est\u00e1 desmoralizado y la juventud intenta abandonar el pa\u00eds. Nos enfrentamos a un panorama muy oscuro y poco esperanzador.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Algunos amigos nos proponen que, para acabar con el gobierno del AKP, que lleva veinticinco a\u00f1os gobernando sin interrupci\u00f3n, nos pongamos bajo la tutela del partido socialdem\u00f3crata para librar una lucha por la \u00abdemocracia\u00bb. Compa\u00f1eros, si ese fuera nuestro camino, ser\u00eda mejor que renunci\u00e1ramos al nombre de \u00abcomunistas\u00bb. No sacamos de nuevo a la luz al TKP, que estuvo prohibido durante ochenta a\u00f1os, para terminar haciendo eso.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

En un pa\u00eds de ochenta y cinco millones de habitantes, estamos obligados a hacer todo lo necesario para rescatar de la oscuridad creada por la burgues\u00eda aunque sea a un solo joven desempleado al borde del suicidio; para devolver las ganas de vivir a un jubilado desesperado que espera la muerte; para lograr que los trabajadores dejen de avergonzarse de s\u00ed mismos y recuperen su voluntad.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A veces, el valor de una posici\u00f3n revolucionaria s\u00f3lo se comprende a\u00f1os, incluso d\u00e9cadas, despu\u00e9s. Bajo un sistema capitalista que genera crisis y contradicciones de esta magnitud, no existe una pol\u00edtica m\u00e1s realista, ni m\u00e1s genuinamente revolucionaria, que prepararse para una ruptura hist\u00f3rica.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Esta es nuestra perspectiva desde Turqu\u00eda. Estamos abiertos a las objeciones y a las cr\u00edticas. Estas son las conclusiones a las que hemos llegado. Esperemos estar a la altura de todo lo que acabamos de decir.<\/p>\n

Los saludo con los m\u00e1s sinceros sentimientos comunistas.<\/p>\n
