-What is happening in Syria? First, it was reported that some pro-Assad militias launched an armed uprising against the HTS government, then the news of massacres of Alawites. What does this mean?

Things are unfolding as pre-planned. Unfortunately. And you see, one of the forces that brought HTS to power in Syria was Israel. We know the similar role of the UK and the United States. It was clear that Turkey was involved and this was repeatedly confirmed by statements from high-ranking officials in Turkey. However, while sectarian and ideological interaction is decisive in Turkey’s cooperation with HTS, Israel and Western countries have two agendas: one overt and one covert. We all know the overt one, which also Turkey shares: the fall of the Assad regime. The covert one is based on that a government in Syria whose legitimacy could always be questioned and which would carry out massacres would pave the way for the intervention of Israel and, if necessary, the Western countries. I call it covert and it was a very rough one.<\/p>\n

-When HTS had hardly captured Damascus, you emphasized this and, “Now they will intervene whenever they want, based on the claim that the jihadists are carrying out massacres, and they will maintain the occupation” you said. Is it what is happening now?

Exactly. That is the situation there now. Acts that normally have negative connotations, such as invasion, intervention, coup d’\u00e9tat, always have to be justified. “Security” is very often invoked as a justification, but it is mostly an abstract one. Excuses such as “use of weapons of mass destruction” turned out to be lies in many cases. But protecting an ethnic group or sect from massacre is a very concrete and in some ways a \u201cnoble\u201d act. It is not difficult to foresee that Israel will, if necessary, seek to protect communities having socio-ideological codes incompatible with a jihadist government in Syria. It started with the Druze, the more populous Kurds were always on the agenda and now the Alawites.<\/p>\n

-And is HTS deliberately serving this agenda here?

Let’s think about what HTS is. HTS is an organization run by agents and fanatics. HTS cannot have the capacity to govern a country complex and big enough like Syria now hovered over by everyone. This organization was brought to power out of a need and a plan. They do not need to follow a prescribed plan. Agents in it, working for different countries, must be of course pulling the strings according to their plans. But HTS’s ideology and organizational structure allows it to carry out massacres. They already started right away but the West turned a blind eye. Now the massacres are becoming widespread and the British media whatsoever has suddenly realized their newsworthiness!<\/p>\n

-Isn’t the leader of the organization Golani, or Ahmed al-Shara, aware of what he serves? Or more precisely, that he is used in such a bloody plot?

Isn’t that the history of the organization itself and him? He might advise \u201crestraint\u201d in order to restore his power but in my opinion, Syria’s disintegration has reached a new level. There is no power that can force Israel out of Syria in the immediate term. And this has become even more difficult as the number of Alawites saying “Israel should protect us” are increasing besides the Druze.<\/p>\n

The unity of Syria and the dismantling of the Kurdish autonomous region, and therefore the armed organization there, was one of the main motivations for the AKP. What could you say considering this?

If they assumed that HTS could ensure the unity of Syria and play a central role there, then woe to their Neo-Ottomanism! The weakened unity of Syria under Assad, can only be maintained through unprecedented repression and massacres with the mission given to HTS. In the past few months, some media outlets claimed that HTS would try to create a so-called unified Syrian identity. With which ideology and\/or unifying approach would they do this?<\/p>\n

I don’t have the right to say that. However, there is currently no organization in Syria that has a program and ideology that can unite different communities. This can only be realized through a unifying working class character on the basis of secularism. All the peoples living in Syria can only become brothers and sisters through their struggle against imperialism, occupiers and exploiters. Unfortunately, there is no such dynamic at the moment. What is going to happen then? That’s when one of the most important concepts in politics comes into play – legitimacy! If the actor to ensure unity of Syria is not legitimate, then disintegration itself becomes legitimate. It is that simple! HTS does not and cannot have such legitimacy to ensure the unity of Syria. We are talking about a barbarian mob massacring thousands of people in a short period of time.<\/p>\n

-What defines legitimacy?

Legitimacy is related to what historical actors and actions have with some of the values that humanity has carried from the past to the present. For example, armed struggle against an occupation is legitimate. As in the case of Palestine or during Turkish War of Independence. An outdated regime, a system decaying, causing poverty, making people suffer is illegitimate. Let me give you an example considering our matter here. Many nations co-existed in The Russian Tsardom. But that co-existence was characterized by cruelty, injustice and exploitation. The struggle for the national liberation from the Russian Empire was legitimate. Then the October Revolution took place and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was established. In an egalitarian system, many nations, peoples and ethnic groups, large and small, were liberated but at the same time became part of the central government. Step by step, the Soviet people was formed. Separation was no longer legitimate, it now meant serving imperialism and reactionism.<\/p>\n

-Is the disintegration of Syria legitimate today?

Nothing with imperialism and Israel is legitimate. But HTS is not legitimate either. You never know what time will show but what we see today is the revival of the idea of mandate. Alawites, Druze and Kurds demand “protection” in Syria today. We should really consider its reasons carefully. Not the same examples but there is one factor that unites them: The threat posed by jihadists. The Barzanists, some Islamist Kurdish politicians and AKP members share the idea that “Turkey should be the protector of the Kurds in the region.” Isn’t the protectorship already a wrong kind of relationship? After all, if protectorship is on the agenda, there are some other candidates for it.<\/p>\n

We cannot be sure, the world is going through a very complex process. The course of Turkey’s relations with the United States and the EU will be crucial. But if there is one thing certain, it is that Israel is settling in Syria. \u201cWe are discussing Israeli protection\u201d said SDF leader Mazloum Abdi a few days ago. In other statements, it was said that \u201cNo one should expect us to disarm while these massacres are taking place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yes, there is tension here. If this tension turns into a deadlock and the AKP insists that “I will not allow a Kurdish formation in Syria,” it will pave the way for a process in which Turkey will be questioned. There are too many actors in the imperialist world waiting for this. On the other hand, there is still the possibility that the Barzanist line will find a wider space for itself in Syria after Iraq and the Solution Process will evolve into a reconciliation involving Turkey. I emphasize again, there is no legitimacy for HTS or similar groups to represent the unity of Syria. Israel and the West can immediately absolve themselves of the responsibility for the otherwise. They are experienced in that. Conducting foreign policy with sectarian projects, AKP cannot get out of that photo because not only of HTS but also of the Free Syrian Army, or the Syrian National Army. You can only be astonished at the \u201cgreat strategic wisdom\u201d that allows Israel, the murderer of the Palestinians, to play the role of \u201csavior of the peoples.\u201d We believe that a unity of struggle against sectarianism, collaborationism with imperialism, service to Israel, corruption and exploitation can help Syria get back on its feet. But we are not in Syria and when we look at Syria right now, the situation is not encouraging. In short, letting HTS to engage in jihadism, Syria to be unitary and the solution process in Turkey in Kurdish issue to be carried out at the same time, that is impossible!<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, actualmente en Siria no existe un movimiento con un programa e ideolog\u00eda capaces de minimizar las diferencias entre las distintas comunidades y unirlas. Esto solo puede lograrse con un car\u00e1cter de clase trabajadora y sobre una base laica, donde todos los pueblos que habitan Siria se conviertan en hermanos en una lucha com\u00fan contra el imperialismo, los invasores y los explotadores. Lamentablemente, hoy no hay una din\u00e1mica as\u00ed. Entonces, \u00bfqu\u00e9 suceder\u00e1? Ah\u00ed es donde entra en juego uno de los conceptos m\u00e1s importantes en pol\u00edtica: \u00a1la legitimidad! Si el actor que intenta garantizar la unidad de Siria no es leg\u00edtimo, entonces la fragmentaci\u00f3n comienza a legitimarse. As\u00ed de simple. HTS no tiene, ni puede tener, la legitimidad necesaria para garantizar la unidad de Siria. Estamos hablando de una horda de b\u00e1rbaros que en poco tiempo ha masacrado a miles de personas.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n – \u00bfC\u00f3mo determinamos esto?<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n La legitimidad est\u00e1 relacionada con la relaci\u00f3n de los actores y las acciones hist\u00f3ricas con determinados valores que la humanidad ha transportado del pasado al presente. Por ejemplo, la lucha armada contra una ocupaci\u00f3n es leg\u00edtima, como en el caso de Palestina o durante nuestra Guerra de Independencia. En cambio, un r\u00e9gimen decadente y corrupto que causa sufrimiento, pobreza y desesperaci\u00f3n a la mayor\u00eda de la poblaci\u00f3n es, en gran medida, ileg\u00edtimo. Para ilustrarlo con un ejemplo relevante: el Imperio Ruso manten\u00eda unidas a muchas naciones, pero esa unidad estaba cimentada en la opresi\u00f3n, la injusticia extrema y la explotaci\u00f3n. La lucha de esas naciones por separarse del imperio era leg\u00edtima. Luego vino la Revoluci\u00f3n de Octubre y la fundaci\u00f3n de la Uni\u00f3n de Rep\u00fablicas Socialistas Sovi\u00e9ticas. En un sistema basado en la igualdad, diversas naciones, pueblos y grupos \u00e9tnicos se liberaron, pero al mismo tiempo se convirtieron en parte de una administraci\u00f3n centralizada. Pero HTS tampoco es leg\u00edtimo en absoluto. El tiempo dir\u00e1, pero lo que vemos hoy es el resurgimiento de la idea del mandato. Si en Siria los alauitas, drusos y kurdos est\u00e1n pidiendo “protecci\u00f3n”, hay que reflexionar sobre las razones. Quiz\u00e1s no sean ejemplos que puedan agruparse de la misma manera, pero hay un factor que los une: la amenaza creada por los yihadistas. “Entre quienes defend\u00edan la idea de que ‘Turqu\u00eda deber\u00eda ser la protectora de los kurdos en la regi\u00f3n’ estaban los barzanistas, algunos pol\u00edticos kurdos islamistas y los miembros del AKP. Pero \u00bfno es en s\u00ed mismo el concepto de protector un enfoque problem\u00e1tico? Al final, si la idea de una protectora est\u00e1 sobre la mesa, siempre habr\u00e1 otros aspirantes a convertirse en una.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00bfEst\u00e1 Israel asumiendo el papel del protector de los kurdos en Siria?<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “No podemos saberlo, el mundo est\u00e1 pasando por un proceso muy complejo, y la evoluci\u00f3n de las relaciones de Turqu\u00eda con los EE. UU. y la UE ser\u00e1 importante. Sin embargo, hay algo claro: Israel se est\u00e1 estableciendo en Siria. Hace unos d\u00edas, Mazlum Kobani dijo ‘Estamos discutiendo la protecci\u00f3n de Israel’. En otras declaraciones se dijo ‘Cuando ocurren estas masacres, nadie debe esperar que nos desarmemos’.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n -Pero \u00bfno significa esto que el proceso de paz en Turqu\u00eda se est\u00e1 deteniendo en el punto m\u00e1s cr\u00edtico, e incluso se est\u00e1 deteriorando?<\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n S\u00ed, aqu\u00ed hay una tensi\u00f3n. Si esta tensi\u00f3n se convierte en un estancamiento y el AKP insiste en el principio de ‘no permitir\u00e9 una formaci\u00f3n kurda en Siria’, como dijimos antes, entonces se abrir\u00e1 el camino hacia un proceso en el que Turqu\u00eda comenzar\u00e1 a ser discutida. Hay muchos actores esperando esto en el mundo imperialista. Por otro lado, tambi\u00e9n existe la posibilidad de que el proceso se convierta en una l\u00ednea barzanista que encuentre un amplio espacio en Siria despu\u00e9s de Irak, lo que podr\u00eda dar lugar a un compromiso que tambi\u00e9n involucre a Turqu\u00eda. Lo reitero, la legitimidad de una foto en la que HTS o grupos similares representen la unidad de Siria es cero. Israel y Occidente se deshar\u00e1n de la responsabilidad de esta foto en un solo d\u00eda. Tienen bastante experiencia. Si el AKP, que lleva a cabo su pol\u00edtica exterior con proyectos sectarios, abandona a HTS, no podr\u00e1 salir de esa foto debido al Ej\u00e9rcito Libre Sirio o el Ej\u00e9rcito Nacional Sirio. No podemos hacer m\u00e1s que quitarnos el sombrero ante esa “gran mentalidad estrat\u00e9gica” que da a Israel, el verdugo de los palestinos, la oportunidad de actuar como el ‘libertador de los pueblos’. Creemos en la unidad de lucha contra el sectarismo, el colaboracionismo con el imperialismo, el servicio a Israel, la corrupci\u00f3n y la explotaci\u00f3n para poner de pie a Siria. Pero no estamos en Siria, y lo que vemos ahora no es un panorama alentador. En resumen, si se quiere que HTS haga yihad, que Siria sea unitaria y que el proceso de paz en Turqu\u00eda contin\u00fae, \u00a1eso no tiene fundamento real!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n
