The Foreign Ministry published a statement today for the 73rd anniversary of our country’s accession to NATO. In the statement, it is claimed that at a time when the future of Euro-Atlantic security is being shaped, Turkey with its allies continue to contribute to international stability today as in the past.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But, is this really the case?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NATO provides international stability, and Turkey contributes to it as a NATO member, is that right?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We can also ask the question as such: Is NATO an organisation that brings stability to countries in trouble, to their peoples and workers, or is it a criminal organisation?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Too many examples, past and present, prove that NATO stands not for stability, but for crisis, and not for security, but as a threat.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NATO was founded in 1949 in line with the expansionist policies of US imperialism against the socialist world that had defeated fascism. Since then, in many countries, it has intervened internally and externally against the organised struggles of the working classes all over the world. It has violated the national sovereignty. It organised coups, conducted assassinations, directed the drug trade. It worked for the interests of international monopolies and the capitalist classes of the countries, sometimes as an armed war machine, other times as a political and ideological war machine.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NATO did not stop its aggression even after the disintegration of the Soviet Union. It tore apart Yugoslavia, it invaded Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. It caused the deaths of many people in its operations all over the world. Lastly, it openly supported Israel’s massacres in Palestine and was an important actor in the international operation that led to the disintegration of Syria.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NATO is for this reason a criminal organisation and an international security problem.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NATO is also a security threat for Turkey. All their military bases in our territory, especially the \u0130ncirlik Airbase, all their weapons and soldiers are the most tangible manifestations of this threat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NATO must be opposed. NATO’s legitimacy must be questioned. We must withdraw from NATO.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Foreign Ministry may be proud of Turkey’s 73 year membership in NATO. However, the time our country has been a member of this criminal organisation, which protects the interests of monopolies and imperialist centres, has been too long.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our Party does not just oppose NATO, it continuously fights for its expulsion from these lands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We will definitely have a country without NATO. A Turkey, free from the intervention of the imperialists, no longer a part of their operations, bringing peace, friendship and equality to the working classes of the region, will definitely be NATO-free.<\/p>\n

El Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores ha publicado hoy un comunicado con motivo del 73.\u00ba aniversario de la adhesi\u00f3n de nuestro pa\u00eds a la OTAN.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

En dicho comunicado, se afirma que, en un per\u00edodo en el que se est\u00e1 definiendo el futuro de la seguridad euroatl\u00e1ntica, Turqu\u00eda sigue contribuyendo a la estabilidad internacional junto a sus aliados, tal como lo ha hecho en el pasado.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pero, \u00bfes realmente as\u00ed?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00bfLa OTAN garantiza la seguridad internacional y Turqu\u00eda, como miembro, contribuye a ello?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n podr\u00edamos formular la pregunta de otra manera: \u00bfla OTAN es una organizaci\u00f3n que lleva estabilidad a los pa\u00edses con problemas, a sus pueblos y a sus trabajadores?, \u00bfo m\u00e1s bien es una organizaci\u00f3n criminal?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Los innumerables ejemplos del pasado y del presente demuestran que la OTAN no representa estabilidad, sino crisis; no representa seguridad, sino amenaza.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

La OTAN fue fundada en 1949 para enfrentar al mundo socialista que hab\u00eda derrotado al fascismo, al servicio de las pol\u00edticas expansionistas del imperialismo estadounidense. Desde entonces, ha intervenido, tanto desde dentro como desde fuera, en las luchas organizadas de la clase obrera en numerosos pa\u00edses. Ha violado la soberan\u00eda de los Estados, organizado golpes de Estado, orquestado asesinatos y dirigido el tr\u00e1fico de drogas. Ha funcionado, ya sea mediante la fuerza militar o a trav\u00e9s de la manipulaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica e ideol\u00f3gica, como una m\u00e1quina de guerra al servicio de los intereses de los monopolios internacionales y de las clases dominantes de los distintos pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tras la disoluci\u00f3n de la Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica, la OTAN no detuvo su agresi\u00f3n. Desmembr\u00f3 Yugoslavia, ocup\u00f3 Afganist\u00e1n, Irak y Libia. Sus operaciones en todo el mundo han costado la vida a innumerables personas. M\u00e1s recientemente, ha apoyado abiertamente las masacres de Israel en Palestina y ha sido un actor clave en la intervenci\u00f3n internacional que ha llevado al colapso de Siria.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Por ello, la OTAN es una organizaci\u00f3n criminal y un problema de seguridad internacional.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

La OTAN tambi\u00e9n es una amenaza para Turqu\u00eda. Las bases militares en nuestro territorio, en particular la de Incirlik, as\u00ed como las armas y tropas extranjeras estacionadas en ellas, representan la manifestaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s concreta de este peligro.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Es necesario oponerse a la OTAN. Su legitimidad debe ser cuestionada. Turqu\u00eda debe salir de la OTAN.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

El Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores puede sentirse orgulloso de estos 73 a\u00f1os de membres\u00eda en la OTAN. Sin embargo, la permanencia de nuestro pa\u00eds en esta organizaci\u00f3n, que protege los intereses de los monopolios, de los grandes empresarios y de los centros imperialistas, ya se ha prolongado demasiado.<\/p>\n

Nuestro partido no solo se opone a la OTAN, sino que lucha ininterrumpidamente para expulsarla de estas tierras.<\/p>\n

Tendremos un pa\u00eds sin la OTAN.<\/p>\n

Una Turqu\u00eda libre de la intervenci\u00f3n imperialista, que no forme parte de sus operaciones y que lleve paz, amistad e igualdad a las clases trabajadoras de la regi\u00f3n ser\u00e1, sin duda, una Turqu\u00eda sin la OTAN.<\/p>\n
