The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey had its meeting on the weekend of 11-12th March, with the main theme of elections. In the meeting, several themes were elaborated, including the calendar of TKP’s electoral campaign in line with the official electoral calendar; the formation of an independent electoral alliance of the left for the parliamentary elections; the electoral propaganda of the Party, as well as the draft statement declaring TKP’s position on the presidential elections.
Following TKP’s call for a possible collaboration of the left in the face of parliamentary elections, given the potential for overcoming the electoral threshold based on an independent line and principles, the preliminary discussions of TKP with some other political parties were evaluated. The next steps and meetings to be held the following week, with the goal of utilizing the potential mentioned in the call, were planned.
The key element of TKP’s electoral propaganda was discussed, with an emphasis on the values TKP represented during the solidarity actions demonstrated by the Party, which in contrast with the decay caused by this social order. In this regard, the electoral campaign slogans were determined. The electoral manifesto of TKP, which was publicized before the earthquake, will be reviewed in light of the developments.
TKP’s statement on the presidential elections will be made public the following week, together with the launch of a donation campaign which will be maintained throughout the election period.

The future of the increasingly fragile capitalism in Turkey and the tensions within the frame of the social order were assessed at the meeting, with the presentation by TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan. The electoral policy of TKP was evaluated in this strategic context.
The electoral calendar of TKP was initiated with this meeting. The recruitment of voters, as well as the general propaganda tools were evaluated. All TKP members and volunteers were called for recruiting voters and supporters as of the coming week. The field work of TKP parliamentary candidates will also gain a new momentum.
TKP branches and organizations will be restructured during the electoral period, aiming for a broader participation of all TKP members and volunteers, and a greater energy that matches the goals of the Party.
