Rejecting Austerity, Marching on May Day
Our working class is being crushed under severe economic conditions. The high cost of living, the struggle to make ends meet – these are the concerns of millions of workers today.
But those responsible could not care less.
AKP, suffering a heavy defeat in the last elections, preaches more patience. Inflation will fall to single digits in three years, interest rates will fall a bit later, and the currency will stabilize only after tightening belts more…
The Minister of Labor dismisses any potential wage increases in July, saying, “Where did that come from!”. Meanwhile, the Minister of Treasury and Finance announces that he has signed a hefty loan agreement with the World Bank to be used by the bosses, as if it is a “blessing” for the people.
They are taking advantage of catching the working class so disorganized.
And they are shameless, corrupted, and hostile to the people.
While our working people struggle to meet their most basic needs, spending hours in queues for affordable meat, MPs order “lobster” for dinner in luxury clubs in European capitals. While the workers are struggling to make ends meet, they are enjoying life.
The bosses are also living it up.
They’ve been increasing their profits and growing non-stop under the AKP rule. Now, they have new alternatives promising more than what this worn-out government has offered them over the past twenty-one years.
Whether in power or in opposition, the parties of current social system always prioritize the interests of the bosses. The bosses make profit and a few families double their fortunes but the workers of their companies work under great risks, unable to make ends meet with the wages they receive, struggling in debt and trying to survive under the threat of unemployment.
Who deserves such a system?
We are condemned to such an unjust and unequal system because a small class of the rich exploit millions of workers.
This system, about which they keep telling will never change and which is based on deceiving the working class with their government and opposition, is the system of the capitalist class.
We need a new system. The system, in which the working class, not the bosses, is in power, wealth is distributed equally and fairly, and exploitation ends is socialism. TKP is fighting for this.
We will definitely establish socialism where we will celebrate May Day, the day of unity, struggle and solidarity of the working class, as a holiday and where the working class is in power.
We will continue to work for working class to become an organized power, to grow our party.
In this May Day, against those who open the country to the plunder of multinational monopolies but preaching austerity to the workers, we will be in the squares, especially in Taksim Square,
Let’s march on the May Day.
Let’s join the ranks of the Party on the May Day, for the power of the working class.
