The June Resistance is the manifestation of the people’s conscience.
In June 2013, millions of citizens stood up for the country and enlightenment against the AKP government and the reaction it represented. The June Resistance was engraved in our social memory, from the beginning to the end, as a historical process in which the people’s right to resist was experienced in the most legitimate way. It became the name of hope that the people in Turkey would not surrender to the darkness.
It was clear that the AKP and its reactionary order of plunder would not tolerate this hope and would do its best to question and condemn the legitimacy of the June Resistance. It has always done so from the very beginning. The court decision in the Gezi trial in İstanbul’s Çağlayan courthouse that was justified as “attempting to abolish the Turkish government or prevent the government from doing its duty” is an attempt to convict the right of the people to resist.
However, the June Resistance is a resistance that is great and legitimate enough to declare this fabricated decision illegitimate. The court’s decision in the Gezi trial is void. AKP is an anti-people and anti-enlightenment party!
The resistance of the people against looting, exploitation, pro-imperialism and reaction is completely legitimate.
