Today is the 21st of March, Newroz.
The sparks of the rebellion against oppression sprouted that day, those sparks became the signs of spring and gifted the people the promise of a new day.
This is what we have heard in the narrative of that day…
For the working people of this land, the longing for a new day has always been an expression of anger against the poverty and oppression we live in, and the hope for a humane system.
So, is this really how we welcome Newroz in 2025?
If we consider what we have been through just in the last month, we welcome Newroz with a very complicated panorama.
The İmralı Process and the ‘resolution’ steps that continue with the (Öcalan’s) letter on one side, the severe poverty that oppresses the working people on the other, and the oppression and unlawfulness that continues to intensify all over the country.
Those who think there is a contradiction here are mistaken.
Today, both the government side and part of the opposition will continue to praise the Process (solution process) in the public squares, perhaps announcing new letters.
Meanwhile, the ballot box will be addressed again to our people against the attacks of the government. At the cost of punishing all anger and hope of the people at those ballot boxes…
It has to be said clearly:
In this system that produces injustice, poverty and hunger, there is neither spring nor a new day for working people…
Spring for working people will come neither with ‘Neo-Ottomanist’ solutions, nor with the sectarian fraternity, nor with expansionist Turkey, nor with the ballot box, which is claimed to be the only response to all the oppression and injustice, but which has been rendered obsolete.
It is not this corrupt system that will bring us the new day, but struggle, fight and rising up as people. But equality, freedom and fraternity will.
Newroz Pîroz Be!
