Rise up against barbarity and hypocrisy

Communist Party of Turkey and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine issued a joint statement condemning the imperialist intervention to Libya:

We condemn the shameful aggression of imperialism and its bloody organization NATO against Libya.

Despite the allegations of imperialist propaganda machinery that the intervention is carried out on “humanitarian premises” and in compliance with “international law”, there is only a single real reason for this barbarous aggression: to put the economic resources and geopolitical position of Libya under imperialism’s control. In other words, this aggression is carried out for nothing but the vital interests of imperialism.

Why do the same “international law” and institutions, which hastily provide basis for dropping NATO bombs on Libyan people, not generate any “solution” while Palestinian people are massacred for decades?

The toiling masses of our region know the answer of this question very well: because, that very same laws and institutions function so fast only when the interests of imperialism are at stake; they generate “solution” only for imperialism.

The aggression against the Libyan people is unacceptable.

The bombs dropped on the Libyan people come from the same source with those dropped on Palestine. There is no difference between keeping silent before this aggression and keeping silent to what has been happening in Palestine.

We call the Prime Minister of Turkey, who allegedly took a hard stand against the murders committed by Israel by saying “one minute”, to react against the imperialist intervention to Libya. Furthermore, we summon him to immediately annul the parliamentary memorandum on Libya and recall the Turkish battle ships. Otherwise, the current situation will prove that Justice and Development Party government is acting clearly on double-standards; a situation which our peoples will never accept.

The simultaneous intensification of Israel’s aggression against Palestinian people with the intervention to Libya is not a mere coincidence. This was what we experienced during the U.S. occupation in Iraq. Now, once again, while another country in the region is being destroyed by imperialist armies, the Zionist government of Israel drops its bombs on Palestinians.

We protest all governments that directly or indirectly support the imperialist aggression, and we call them to give up supporting this unfair intervention immediately.

We support the legitimate demands of the Libyan people for change and the substantiation of democratic conditions. However, we believe that genuine change cannot be brought forth by the interventions of imperialism and its accomplices, but only by the toiling masses of this country.

We condemn imperialism and its bloody organization NATO that, in the present instance, shed blood in Libya!

We call our peoples to rise up against this barbarity and hypocrisy!
